Chapter 3 The Way Things Work
____________________________________________________________________________________________
Most screens in the Nutrition Assistant follow a set of common "rules"
Auto "Fill-In"
When you access a screen, current patient data from other screens or previous use of the same screen, if available, will automatically fill in fields of the screen. This means you can leave screen (A), use another screen and return to the screen (A) with no loss of data.Auto "Calculation"
Normally, once any data is entered or auto "filled-in" then the screen will recalculate any possible resulting values. Note: Until all prerequisite data is entered on a screen a "result" field will not show.@ Auto Calculation On/Off Button.
Several screens (such as Food Exchanges, Renal Choices and Pediatric Growth) have a way to turn off the auto calculation function. This is done by tapping the @ button on these screens. When the auto calculation is turned off you can enter data much more rapidly because you do not have to wait between calculations.Data Across Screens
Data that was calculated or entered on one screen will appear automatically on later screens with the same "data" (height, weight, etc). Thus entering height on one screen means it will appear on any screen which has a height field when/if you access this next screen. You will notice that there is only ONE value for height, weight, etc., in the Nutrition Assistant, at any one time. Changing height for example on one screen changes it on subsequently accessed screens.Clearing "Current" Data Across All Screens
You can "clear" / "blank" all the currently entered data (height, weight, age, etc.) by accessing the "Person/Start" screen on the main Nutrition Assistant menu, then tapping "Clear" button.Enter Data "Top to Bottom", "Left to Right"
Most screens contain both entered and resulting calculated data. Screens generally work by entering data top to bottom and left to right.Help Screens
You may access the help screens using the ? button at the top of most screens. When you return from the help screen you will be back at the same screen where you accessed help.
"Apostrophed" Help Labels
How "apostrophe" labels work
On all screens, a field label which starts with an apostrophe ( ' ) will display a pop-up help message if you tap slightly the right of this apostrophe on the label. These pop up windows are like mini-help buttons. For general help about the screen, tap the "?" button at the top of the screen. Tapping slightly to the right of the apostrophe on the 'Name (label "A") will cause the "Info" pop-up window (label"B") to display as shown in figure above.
Standard Screen Buttons
There are standard buttons at the top of most screens. These buttons function the same on each screen.
The back arrow (chevron) is like the "Done" or "OK" button. When you tap this button you will return to the screen previously displayed. The question mark will access the appropriate help system screen.
The circle with a slash is the clear button. It clears the data on an individual screen. Generally you will be asked to confirm this action.
The circle with horns is the menu button. Tap it to go to the Main Menu screen.
The forward arrow (chevron) is like the "Done" or "OK" button . When you tap this button you go forward to
the "next" screen if there is one in the assessment you are doing (See Auto Forward/AF Section).
