Chapter 8   Knee Height Estimate of Height ____________________________________________________________________________________________

The "Knee Height Est." screen below (Figure 8.1) is for estimating a person's height based on "knee height" measurement.
This estimation technique is useful for people who are bedridden or otherwise cannot stand for a normal height measurement. Knee height is usually measured with "knee height" calipers. Additionally, this screen can estimate a person’s weight based on estimated height and mid-arm circumference measurement..
You access this screen by selecting the "KH" button on the "IBW/ BMI" screen.

Screen How to Use This Screen:

1) Sex and age fields will normally be filled in based on entries on a previous screen. If not then enter that data here.
2) Enter the knee height measurement.
3) Check Black Heritage or Hispanic button if appropriate.
4) The estimated height will show on line 5.
5) If you have an estimated height showing and you have a mid-arm circumference measurement you may enter it (on line 8) and the screen will show an estimated weight (on line 10). If you wish this estimated weight to be used as the person's "actual" weight then check the box on line 11.
